Why I hate Lochinvar Boilers

5 a.m. a cold bedroom, and Glenn trapsing downstairs to reboot the boiler.

Apparently, Lochinvar boilers require cleaning twice a cleaning season. Which means, inadvertently we will run out of heat at least once a season. Hopefully, when it's not too cold outside.

I'm not a fan of the installers-American Vintage Heating either as a result since they recommended the Lochinvar in the first place. (and want to charge us $200 or so for each cleaning!)

Thankfully, I was able to locate someone to come today for the cleaning. it will probably need to be cleaned again in April.

I'd like to take the opportunity to hijack this heating-related post to ask a question: where did you buy your used cast iron radiators? I saw the picture of the vast graveland and am dying to know where it is (and if it exists in winter, inside?). You wrote something about B&B Formica but somehow that doesn't add up, for me, to old cast iron fixtures? And, I found several locations listed online. Please advise? Thank you so much!

Yep, B&B Formica it is. Sorry for the delay in a response--we were on vacation that week!

If you drive by B&B, you'll see all the radiators outside.

The B&B we've gone to is on far West grand in Chicago.

Good Morning!

My name is Jason Waterwash, the representative for Lochinvar Corporation here in Chicago. If you have the opportunity, please email me so that I may address any issues you are having with the boiler you have installed. Our units do not typicaly need more maintenence than other brands, but if there is excessive need for cleaning, there may be something else going on at your jobsite. My email address is jwaterwash@lochinvar.com

Thank you for your time!
